Doppler effect in resonant photoemission from SF/sub 6/: correlation between Doppler profile and Auger emission anisotropy

Abstract
The fragmentation of SF6 molecule upon resonant core excitation has been studied by the resonant Auger e ect. The atomic-like Auger line exhibits a Doppler splitting or Doppler broadening depending on the direction of the photoelectron momentum. The Doppler broadened pro le shows unexpected dependence on the excitation energy. The model simulations show that an anisotropy of the Auger emission in the molecular frame give rise to observed features.
